Tech question for Evosport or other mechs
The MB techs have changed the iridium plugs . They saw on the computer that the number 3 cylinder had misfired. Also the plugs that where removed where moist.
Since then the car is running OK, but I feel that when I stop for a red light or just dont move the engine is not 100% smooth as before.
Now here is something I noticed yesterday : the low windshield warning came on (remember I have the Evosport cooling upgrade). That is very strange because I filled it up a week ago and have not used a drop since than. So I filled it up again.
My question is following : is there some way the IC water from the IC could reach the engine/plugs if there where a leak ??
I did a visual check for a water leakage myself but I saw nothing.
Thx,
Bart
Make sure there is no where else the fluid could be leaking from, because it does not sound like a cheap fix if it is the IC Core.
1.) Leaking A/W Intercooler in intake manifold/supercharger (already mentioned above).
2.) Leaking intake intake manifold or head, between the water jacket and the intake port or combustion chamber.
3.) Leaking head gasket.

One could do pressure check of the IC coolant system, to see if there is a leak. It should hold at least 6.0 LBS/sqin. One needs to seal off sections of the IC system, to do a pressure check.
It is common to do similar pressure checks of the engine cooling system, but the pressure can go to 16 LBS/sqin.
This may give you some ideas, here is a link to a simple intake air test on the Audi S4.

It does not take anything fancy, but a low pressure regulator, gauge and sealing off
normal air leakage paths. I would not run above 10 LBS/sqin, 6 LBS/sqin will probably find a leak, if there is one.
Just use care and common sense, when checking it.
Quick update.
The found a leak in the IC core which they have replaced. So far so good but I am still keeping a bottle of water in my trunk just in case the engine starts drinking water from my windshieldwater reservoir again.
I hope they will cover it under warranty (actually I am just 2 months past the deadline .....)
