C55 just died while driving.
Hello MB people.
I have just had my C55 Estate die on me while driving, luckily it was near home and i have a ute and helpful friend nearby to get it home.
Its only done 67000Km, has K and N filters and a Eurocharged ECU tune with secondary cats deleted, a nice cruiser.
Anyway, was just driving like a normal human at about 40Km/h and it just died, all the dash lights came on that would if your key is in the on position. Car will crank over on the starter but wont fire into life, multiple tries all same result, im waiting for it to cool down to try once more as it feels hot but its a very hot day here.
The dash shows "no malfunction".
Im thinking fuel pump, CAS, MAF or ignition (signal to coilpacks).
Im fairly handy on the tools but not a pro.
What is the best way to go about fault finding this?
Which to start on?
I have the rest of the weekend to DIY it but if it gets over my head i have a mechanic i will get it towed to anyway, its due a service.
Thanks

So i left it to cool overnight and this morning it started right up.
I would suspect its the CPS from what i have read at this stage.
Its all booked in for a service and to get the codes read to confirm and repair.
Thanks
Dayne.

I know it's been a while since this post but what was the issue with your car? Mine started doing the same thing this past Sunday, when it does eventually start, the engine management light stays on. Hopefully you see this and can steer me in the right direction. I have the sedan C55, 2006.
Quite common to crap out on these, cheap to fix if you can do it yourself but its in a painful place to get to on top of the back of the block near the firewall.

I treat it well, then occasionally do a skid. Haha.

Thanks for the response and assistance, I will definitely check it out and post back here.
Yeah, your estate looks to be in great condition, I also really like estates but unfortunately they are not that common here and I don't think we had the C55 version at all. I work at the same plant that my car was built so that was one of the reasons I bought it.

Finally managed to get it done, what a mission! Had to take the cover off the injector harness so that I could squeeze my right hand through the harnesses, once I got the plug off it was much easier to locate the socket and crack it loose. Putting the new one back is also quite easy, took it for a drive just now and it seems fine, hopefully it will stay that way. Thanks for all the help, it's much appreciated 🙂
