Today while I was preventatively changing out my Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS) on my 2006 C55 I thought I would take the time to clean my MAF and Throttle Body Plate. . I cannot believe how much this has reinvigorated the car! Its like it was when I originally bought it! No more hesitation, no more inconsistent idle, and no more early upshifts. If your car seems to have lost a step, this is well worth the $6 can of CRC throttle cleaner and an hour.
Yeah they’re so damn dirty! I’m actually currently in the process of rebuilding my M113, just the surface parts and pulleys. I decided to take apart the intake manifold. Take a look at how dirty everything was! My throttle body was worse than yours. I haven’t finished with putting everything back together but with all the crap i cleaned out of it i’m sure my motor will breathe better now!
On the outside, where the maf would connect. Split the Intake Manifold and in the left side of the pic you can see the inside of the throttle body. TB Gasket, look how bad it is.

This is what I miss about the M113 in my E55, all I needed is the CRC cleaner and a toothbrush. In my ML63, I have to remove the intake manifold and open it to reach the two throttle bodies.
