Fan shroud for alternator removal

Greetings, I have had no luck with voltage regulator replacement so unfortunately the alternator needs to come out. I have removed serpentine belt, coolant hoses, removed connections to alternator and bolts, have it pried loose, have the fan unbolted and out, but can't get the fan shroud out for the last bit of clearance. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

might be a late reply but there are plastic clips that hold the fan shroud to the crash bar.

Thanks for the response, I did finally figure out how the clips work (only two on sides and push the top) and got the shroud out and got the alternator out. Alternator is tested and ready to go. Time to put the whole menagerie back together.

Great Shribe! I remember when i had to do an alternator swap on my C55. I ended up pulling my whole rad and support off to do it. Hated that but it was so worth it!

In the future you can lossen the motor mount lift the engine and get it out from there too.

Will I need to clear my visit workshop code or will it be clear from having battery unhooked and the alternator now working? Also just add that beautiful blue coolant through the pressure tank (50/50 distilled water) and it will draw itself full? Next time I hope it is just the voltage regulator but if the alternator goes I think I will stick to the process I know all too well. Are motor mounts difficult in general?

Replacing the mounts is not very easy. Just undoing one of the bolts and lifting the engine is easier than having to deal with the radiator and coolant imho.

Just as a follow up to my questions to help someone who finds this post, fill through the expansion tank on left side all the way to the black plastic which is full. Just taking hoses off required almost 2 gallons to fill. Warning light cleared on its own.
