Higher Mileage Cars

Looking to buy my first C55. One finally showed up reasonably close to me and went for a test drive. Loved everything about it except low RPM power / response. Leaving a stoplight, the car felt sluggish and lethargic until 3,000 to 3,500RPM and then it drove as I expected.

The car has about 122,000 miles on it. Do these cars start to wear out at some point? Could this be fixed with something as easy as plugs and coil packs?

All thoughts on the lack of low RPM performance are welcome. 😀

It depends on how the owner has been driving it. It will adapt the throttle and shifting to how it's being driven. Extremely annoying "feature" they put in to improve gas mileage. The brake and accelerator pedal feel is also very heavy, making the car feel heavy and sluggish (especially if you're used to something like a BMW). Don't worry, it isn't.

Do an adaptation reset to unleash the beast... Turn the car off, then press the accelerator pedal to the floor (hold it there) and turn the key to the run position (don't start it). Count to 10, then switch off then release the pedal. Start it up and it will be a different car. 122k is barely broken in.

Spooky55 is spot on, the car has barely began its life if properly taken care of at that mileage. Personally, I use the sprint booster v3 product to help avoid this annoying sluggishness because I got tired of adaptations and feeling like the car was slow because of pedal feel at low rpm when in reality it is very FAST. As long as nothing startling jumps out at you during test drive and inspection, be confident especially if its at a good price, good luck!

Mine was at 218,000 when I sold it (recently), and it'll probably go to at least 300k, in my opinion.

Im sure it’ll last way past 300k. If they take care of the car it’ll go all the way up towards 800k.
