C32 AMG engine swap into W202
New to the forum but not new to mercedes, been drifting ones for the last 3 years. I bought a c240 road car and swapped a c230 kompressor running gear into it 2 years ago. Been a great and reliable drift car for me but I was at the point where I was comfortable with the car, and got the notion that I needed more power. A c32 AMG conversion swap came up for sale and I took the plunge and bought it. I am currently in the process of swapping it into the car, have the engine and gearbox placed in the car. I also got the loom, ecu and key with the swap and have installed all of these in the shell also.
My problem now is that I cant start the car. The key wont turn. I think this is due to the fact that I don't have the steering lock from the car that the engine came from. As far as I know the ecu needs to get the data from the steering lock to be able to disable the immobiliser allowing you to turn the key, and because I don't have it it wont let me turn the key. I have tried getting in contact with the person I bought the engine from to see if he has the steering lock but I cannot get in contact with him.
So this is where I am stuck, I tried getting onto some local ecu tuners about removing the immobiliser system from the ecu, but they all say that the immobiliser cannot be removed or disabled. The next thing I am thinking of trying is getting a steering lock from another w203 and coding it to the ecu to be able to disable the immobiliser- is this even possible?
Any help or tips with anything is much appreciated, I will post a few pics of the car!
Thanks!
Jules
As far as in terms of getting the engine running, unfortunately it looks like nobody will go near removing the immobiliser from the standard ECU. I have tried a lot of tuners and people who specify in immobiliser removal, who say it is not possible on mercedes ECU. I am now in the process of trying to get a standalone ECU to run the car
