Power delivery?

Do you guys feel the full power potential of the car is not readily available at times? My C32 is an ‘02 w/ 68k, I recently replaced the stock Bosch IC pump w/ the updated one which made a noticeable difference! Sometimes when I pull from a traffic light at lower speeds and hit the gas a bit the full power is not there unless I hit the kick down switch. I’m assuming this is how the car runs at this point. My previous car was a 210 E55, I anticipated the C32 to perform very differently.

I would appreciate some insight in terms of if this is how the car generally runs, if I were to hit the gas full throttle in my car at a light the situation is very different. I’m adjusting to things like the way the trans shifts at lower speeds. The car overall is an absolute blast to drive, I love it!

Cheers.

Sprintbooster is a great product to eliminate this issue for this era Benz 722.6 trans. In my experience the variation is due to learned shift adaptation function of the transmission. You can also do adaptation reset but it will go back to meh within a day of regular driving in traffic etc.

I have a video of install, initial thoughts and final review of the sprint boost product on my c55 on YouTube if interested.

Thats how gear ratios work, in 1st the car pulls the hardest but only up to 35 or so and in 5th the slowest but you will hit 160+. When you hit the kick down switch you're telling the transmission to downshift to the lowest possible gear.

Additionally these cars only have passive intercooler radiator, no fans, that means you have too keep moving to keep your IATs low. In slow traffic you could see 130 degree IATs with only 80 degree ambient temperatures.

You got my attention mate. I cannot believe I overlooked the fact that my somewhat new to me C32 utilizes the same trans as my prior 210 E55s. The 210s never acted like the C32, I was almost certain it had something to do w/ the shift adaptation. It drives completely different after resetting, but don’t want to have to do it on a weekly basis or every couple days.

I’d appreciate it if you could send me the link for the video. I’m just not a big fan of flashing the factory software especially under these circumstances.

Cheers,

-Rob

I appreciate the response. I owned quite a few cars in the past and something feels off. I unfortunately sit in a good amount of traffic on a daily which impacts the way the car shifts shortly after resetting. My 210 could get a bit sluggish in these conditions although not to this extent. I read some replace parts although I feel it’s more software related.

At the end of the day I really like the car and will continue to reset if there’s not a permanent fix.

Cheers,

-Rob
