C55 AMG
C55 Alternator/VR went out after long drive

New owner and new to forum! I bought a C55 yesterday it was actually MBWorld user name Viper98912's car for 9 years.

Yesterday I drove it down from Michigan to Nashville which is 550 miles, TN. No problems. Ran great! No warning lights

Today I was driving around and after running about 4 errands I saw the good old Battery Alternator Visit Workshop message pop up. I've been reading alot of threads on here about this and realize it can be 1 of 4 things:

Battery Terminals (I wiggled, seemed solid)
Battery (replaced in 2016)
Voltage Regulator (I dont believe its every been replaced)
Alternator (I dont believe its every been replaced)

I dont have a multimeter with me at the moment to test the battery when running vs off. I'm worried to drive it because I dont want to get stuck somewhere!

Any ideas besides replace the VR or Alternator? ie. should I try driving it around a little to see if the message goes away. It just seems odd to drive 550 miles and have no issue and then today it starts saying this.

2006 C55, 2004 ML350
Most likely voltage regulator. Here is a video on it.
