Cylinder lining damage
I am somewhat heartbroken having learned that my C55 AMG has cylinder lining damage in at least 1 cylinder.
I noticed that my car was asking (via the on dash information) for a litre to a 1.5 litres every 500-800 miles. There were no visible leaks identified and I began to fear the worst but hoping it would be a PCV breather issue.
I took it to Wayne Gates in Harrow who is an independent Mercedes-Benz specialist in Harrow, London (UK) who has worked with many AMG engines and they identified cylinder liner wear using an endoscope.
Needless to say, the bill is huge for this job and prohibitive. Any advice? Could someone do this for me for a lot cheaper or do I have to get rid of the car? I am so disappointed as I thought these engines are bulletproof.

Sorry to hear. It sounds similar to Porsche flat six cylinder scoring of the similar time frame. 996 and 997 model 911s seem most affected.
I haven’t seen this come up often on this site. Maybe read about the options the P-car people implement as guidance for your situation.

Yoy ask if somone can do it cheaper but did not list a price. From what i understand there is no repairing the blocks because they are coated with a chemical. You can get a used motor for about 1k here in the states and it might be the best route.
