I have been contemplating the idea of the deleting the sunroof permanently out of the C55 for a long time and will most likely attempt by summer. However before I do so I wanted to know if it would cause any issues or faults to modules that could negatively impact the car in any shape or form? Idk exactly what the system is paired to so I figured asking would be a good place to start. I plan on doing the deletion as clean and correct as possible since I plan on owning this car indefinitely and will document on my YouTube channel as always for others who may be interested in doing the same.
hope to hear some knowledgeable responses as I think it’s time. I don’t ever use the sunroof, would like the weight saving and eliminating possible leaks when the seals dry up from age. Plus the recall with no solution was kind of the straw to the camels back.

thx,

I’m on the same boat. I have a C230 as well without a sunroof and I much prefer that as well as the added benefits you listed. I have an sos warning light on rn and I rarely use my sunroof. I’m certain we just need to program the sos out of the car as it’s not on the C230 and lesser models and source a roof and headliner from a non sunroof w203 chassis. My rear headliner is sagging so I’m gonna do black Alcantara as well. I’ll talk to a few shops around and see what can be done.

Thank you for the response! 1 out of 539... lol I agree, if it does cause any error it should be able to be coded out or tricked in some way. Now that I have access to someone with STAR/DAS I am sure we will look into eventually, my manual swap project has superseded all else atm, but most likely next spring we will venture down this road. I use my car frequently throughout all seasons up here so I don't want to mess with my roof during rainy/cold fall and winter. I have a few different ideas of possible solutions besides swapping the entire roof, although that would be most ideal. I'll update as I go and hope to hear back with what you find, thx again!

i talked to my local MB/AMG shop and it can be coded out. Just contemplating doing a whole roof or sunroof removal and weld it shut.
