Windshield sun and rain sensor sensitivity
Applicable to all W203's (and I assume W209's)
About +- 9 year ago I changed my windshield due to a stone chip.
My MB dealer does not fit windshields (then and now) so I was "forced" to go to an independent glass replacement shop down the road.
I still remember asking them, is the glass OEM and what material they used etc etc. I was promised it would be OEM or exceed OEM specs.
They installed their brand (NOT MERCEDES) but insisted it is as good.
This was done during the summer time and I could not fault it.
Fast forward to the 2020, I had to replace my windshield again due to a stone chip.
This time I called the MB dealer and ordered my glass directly from them. I also ordered the MB glue, spacers, trim piece etc etc.
I got a MB approved glass fitter to fit it at my home.
One thing I imminently noticed was that my lights are much more "sensitive" to light.
I normally had to switch it on (manually) in winter time due to low light condition, but now, it is much better.
I am not sure if the "clear plastic" thing in the middle of the glass is made much better or .......
Cost difference (OEM vs aftermarket) was only +- $50, so I would definitely recommend the MB original glass.
Hope this helps someone in the near future.
