Hello All,
I am posting to see if anyone may have a source that shows the difference in driveshaft lengths between different models and transmissions for Mercedes?
I am doing a manual conversion on the C55 using a Chrysler Crossfire 6 speed (MB 716.6) transmission and am trying to figure what front drive shaft half to use.
Also question I don’t know the answer for... does Mercedes use the same length front half shafts and different length rears for different models or other way around?
If so, since the standard transmission 716.6 is used in various models maybe any model using it will have used the same front half length.
Thank you,
Brooks

I used a W204 C350 front half shaft on my C55. Also used a W204 C350 6 speed manual. Rear half shaft is stock. 100% bolt on and perfect. I imagine a stock W203 manual front driveshaft would also work. I didn't bother with measurements, it's an OEM swap and it just worked.
If you're using the later W204 transmissions, word of warning. Shift linkage assembly is a bit longer on the rod actuated transmissions, so you'll need to compensate in a couple of places for that. That's what I'm using.
Here's my link: https://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c...-complete.html
And here's a fantastic link on swapping a CLK320 to a 6 speed (99% same process). https://mbworld.org/forums/clk-class...sion-swap.html

Yes, I subscribed to your thread, I now know the w204 driveshaft like you used is the correct size. The only thing I don’t know is if the 716.6 used in the w204 is the same length as the 716.6 used in the Crossfire/slk/w203 and if it uses the same size flex disc flanges.
Your build, jikjakz and Dzmitry’s have been supremely helpful, Dzmitry and I met up recently to talk about the project since we happen to live close. Just trying to iron out the last few details, but I may just have to find one of each cheap on eBay and be the test bunny since it’s a combo of what you and Dzmitry did as far as transmission used and in a C55.
thank you for the response.
