OEM Valve Cover Gaskets?

About a month ago I replaced my leaky valve cover gaskets with the kit from FCP euro. Everything went smoothly, thought I did a good job.

Well yesterday I saw that my passenger side is leaking again near the bottom rear and onto the exhaust manifold. I took it apart again and made extra sure that the gasket was seated correctly in the half-moon on the rear, re-torqued everything, and its still leaking again this morning. Drivers side is fine.

My question is why?! Ive read to only use OEM MB gaskets, as the victor reinz ones tend to leak no matter what. The kit from FCP included non OE but "OE supplier" gaskets.

Is it time to bite the bullet and pay the $600 the dealership wants for this job, or should I order OE gaskets from the dealer and do it again myself?

Thanks, Casey

Since you know how to do it, just get the OEM ones and save some money.

Thanks will do - I'll report back if it worked.

Lesson learned, go with OEM for cheap parts

Some rtv sillicone also helps to seal the half moons up. Only a small bit though.
