C55 Manual Swap Complete

Hmmm. I'm actually in the UK and it isn't clear that anybody out here could do the coding (by that I mean has actually done it before and would be prepared to do it again). I could live with the shifter in the centre console, but probably not the lights on the dash.

living with a CEL wouldn’t be the end of the world for me even though I wouldn’t want to. You can also disassemble the shifter so it’s only the brain inside which wouldn’t take up much space at all.

Manual shift knob for sale
Would anyone here be interested in purchasing an illuminated shift knob from me?
I purchased one as part of my ambient light project and chose orange as the color of illumination. It is not right. Mercedes is much closer to yellow, is yellow. (I’ve been testing...)
So, I can’t in good faith charge the illuminated cost, but ideally I’m looking for the non illuminated cost...
It’s brand new...just had a bench test of the LED color...

Are you planning on doing an episode or write up with more details on how you handled the software side of the swap? I personally would enjoy seeing this and view it as the most intimidating part of the swap.

I used the W204 transmission to bypass the shift linkages and benefit from the rod actuation. The W204 variant is rated for slightly more torque, too! But as I explained in my thread, it meant the shifter came out a couple of cm more backwards than it should have and as such my console had to be butchered to make it fit.
Yours looks better, if I say so myself. But again.. shift rod! There's a diesel variant rated for 440Nm as well, but good luck to any of us finding that one. :P

Good question! When Dzmitry and I did the coding there was so much experimenting going on we didn't want to make a video on it because in reality we kind of 'hacked' our way through it. There is definitely better ways to code the ECU than what we did in other words, but what we did works. However, I am in talks with someone currently who may be able to provide a more official programming route that I could then share, the specific coding is his intellect however so personally I won't be able to give all the intricacies. I'll keep this thread updated as I go, working on some other mods related to the manual currently!

Slow clap. I am blown away by this. 1. The ***** to do it. 2. The follow-through.
I appreciate your posts & videos and little things like the RIT on the rear deck are brilliant in their simplicity. NICE WORK! I spent all afternoon consuming your content.... I'm a fan.

Appreciate it!! Glad to provide it all! It’s all about having fun. Getting to share it with others is a bonus that came about because there wasn’t much out there when I first got the car, as far as video content. More on the way! Have some exciting things in the works arriving soon ⚡️

@kaixdiego any updates ? Would you still use the same parts you listed? New advices? Any news on the more “official” coding?

Car is running great, better than it was after initial swap with a few changes I've made. All the parts are still totally viable options, the only thing I would change or recommend is for people to skip on the Mercedes shift linkage fiasco. It's hard to find number one, over complicated and limits universal application. BMW shift joints fit the MB trans no problem, from there you make a shift rod to the size need and pick out one of the many BMW shifters available. In my case I used a Coolerworx chassis mounted shifter originally for an E36. Best change I made by far...
Overall car is fantastic, clutch feels just as fresh as the first day and I have driven the crap out of it and drive it hard every time I drive pretty much. Coding is working fine, no errors, we did end up cloning my ecu to another but that was just to keep my original untuned ecu as is...

I was thinking about potential options to do this swap on. Does anyone know if the c/slk manual transmission would mate to the cls/e550 (M273 engine)? It’s technically a more powerful successor to the m113. Not as much aftermarket support, but they are a lot easier to find and pretty affordable. If it does mate-up, what driveshaft would we use? And although that transmission is rated at 400nm, it seems like from your experience and others, it is much stronger than that.

99 E55...
So your parts list would work for a 99 E55 amg MT conversion?
