Yes, its an auxillary input and will work with your iPod with the appropriate connector. We utilize this on our E500. Unfortunatley it does not charge the iPod nor can you manipulate the menus/songs via the cars' audio controls. I believe you can purchase an ICELINk that interfaces through the CD changer input that will allow you to control the unit thorugh the cars' audio controls and charge it while it is in use.
I am wondering if you can install iPod on C55. I found a some connection in the glove box on side wall. Has anybody done it?
Thanks in advance.
I have used the AUX input in the glove box to hook up my iPod Mini in my C55. I purchased Belkin's Car adapter kit, that gives you the ability to charge the ipod and also has a line-level output, which hooks up into the AUX port in the glovebox.
I also hardwired an extra cig. light plug in the center console (in the bottom part) and hid all of the wires for it. I had bad engine noise, so I purchased a Ground Loop interface from Radio Shack, and it cleared it up.
http://www.pro-fit-intl.com/ makes a mounting bracket that I made a custom cradle from by adapting the Belkin cupholder cradle a bit. I did this for my Dell DJ15, but I believe the same can be done for an iPod.
If you have the stock tape deck, you can hardwire an aux input that makes your tape deck non-functional. That's what I have in mine, but I can't speak on the technical stuff cuz I didn't do it. An electrical engineer buddy did all the work for me.
