looks great. how's the sound?

if it's not too much trouble, can you tell me how much the C55 Spare Tire Well was? i would appreciate the part number and cost of install, as well as any extra info if you have time. does the exhaust bolt up easily? reason i ask is because i'm thinking of getting the C55 Spare Tire Well, and then mount on an aftermarket exahsut when companies make it for C55, i want to know if there's any modification when mounting the actual exhaust to the car. thanks.

Mr. 99e36m3:

I am working on compiling a complete list of all the parts used on this upgrade.

This system is an OEM product, thus all the bushings, bolts, mounts, etc, are a direct bolt on. Even the entire spare tire well is a one piece that after the existing C32's tire well is removed proffesionally, the new one pops right in, a complete dream.

The sound?... whelp... beautiful!... I can now die and go straight to heaven.

The costs???... ahahahahahahahahaha.... under 5k. Actually, my set up, with the rush delivery on all the parts that had to be shipped from Germany (some parts were sent to my house and I had to re-ship them to the shop which added to my overall cost).

I had looked to purchase a C55 ONLY to get the quad exhaust as there wasn't anything else that I liked of the C55. With my C32, anywhere I looked, I was asked to "drop" another 20k to get basically the same car!... whelp???... gettting this mod DID NOT cost 20k!... and I absolutely love it... all OEM equipment.

Installation MUST be done professionally. If you want to Mickey Mouse it somewhere to "cheapen" your costs ... that is your choice, though I would not recommended.

The caviat to my costs, is that I used my existing bumper. If you add the C55 bumper + painting and installation, you must add aprox $1,500.00 more to the 4k I spend bringing you to a grand total between 5 to 6k. For those few ones that may have Parktronic installed, further risks are run on the poping of the sensors, and strips and moving them to the new bumper.. you ruin a sensor, and you are talking about 120 bucks additionally per sensor + painting...

If you see the pics of the right side cut, you CAN NOT tell the difference to the C55 bumper... THAT is ONE of the many benefits to have a reputalbe shop do the work... it looks what you've paid for.

Mr. FrankW:
No "additional' weight has been added. The spare tire well is lighter than the C32, and so are all the new tools, which I got in the custom (still OEM) black annonidized finish! (yeah!... mod the jack man!... haha!)

Cheers

You are most welcome!. When dealing with OEM AMG products, price is never in the "economy" side on mostly anything at all. If you ever saw my posting that is still somewhere on the C32 forum about the Carlsson quad exhaust.. that puppy retails for 2.2k... that is almost half your cost of the AMG product...

The reason why Carlsson, Brabus and the other guys have a market share is mainly because of their prices... then you can get to the Junior brands that offer you the exhaust for 700 bucks and so forth, though those "Junior" brands's products are not tested and in many cases you ended up regreting. Some of the owners that installed the Carlsson, when the learn the costs of the AMG vs what they've spent and compare that against their results/performance/gain have indicated to me that they wished they had done the whole OEM upgrade.

Good luck on your exhaust project!

Cheers!

I usually don't even dare tread on the C32 AMG forum, but must make an exception to render honors to this awesome exhaust mod.

Some people don't like the fact that my C320 Coupe is being modeled after a C32 AMG Euro SportCoupé, but take immitation as flattery in the highest form. I would like to post pictures of my C32 AMG exhaust when installed on my C320 Coupe, later this month.

In the meantime, congratulations Mr. Wiedermann on a super achievement !

I appreciate all the comments... I am also very happy with the new exhaust set up... I actually drive my C32 now!!! (before it used to mostly sit in my garage and only was used on longer trips...)

Cheers!

Guess those 14k miles in 8 monts just jumped on the car then

Looks good mario. Not a bad way to spend 3.2k on a OEM upgrade.

Eric:

As I mentioned to you on an email that I sent you before:

Eric:

Got your page while I was on the road. I can't always answer my IMs when they reach my mobile.

It seems you have problems understanding the costs of the recent work I had done in my car and that is becasue you don't know what all the parts cost and who paid for what.

Hopefully we will run into each other online sometime.

Have a good weekend

Wiedermann

I wish I could say the upgrade costs 500 bucks... that is not the case. It would NOT be appropriate to say that 3k, or 3200 bucks will do the job.. cause it wont. Not even you would be able to get it, even if you go the parts a "true" "costs". I have seen that the "true" "costs" in parts in the USA at the dealerships, not to be confused with their reatil value, is aprox 40-60% higher than the parts that I get shipped directly from my dealership in Berlin. The "savings" onthe pricing, for this particular upgrade were "offset" by the costs of shipping the parts. It is very foolish of you not to concider the ammount of money spent on having the parts shipped to the USA... without it you won't get the upgrade at all. The costs alone of shipping the heat shields on this upgrade where aprox $95.00 euros, the costs of both heat shields???.. whelp.. US dealership about 60 bucks each sield... costs from my dealer in germany... about 20 euros... STILL the cost of shipping, offset the cost of the upgrade...

I would recommend to those that are interested in the upgrade, to talk directly to the shop that will get the parts for you, the installation work, and ultimately get a grand total. There is always someone like Eric, though a great guy, that doesn't necesarily know the costs. I don't want to misslead people when it comes to expenses.

There is an increase in performance which I orinally didn't even care about. Per AMG's conservative numbers I received, there is an increase in boost and HP, not much, about 12 to 15hp total and it is noticiable. I do drive the car hard. Sound is amazing... and just to keep in mind that I did the upgrade for the looks and because it was an all OEM upgrade.

Cheers

Dope upgrade, too much for my taste! $4000 more and you could have done the pulley upgrade and computer chip.

need the part numbers and the shop location :-)

People may have other opinions but I just think that this is worth $4000. Can you please post the part numbers and the shop that did the mod? Since I am in the LA area, I think I would like to use the same place.

Mr. c32aus:
I would think that as timing of the parts are made more and more ratherly available here in the US, prices should adjust more and more... hopefully to the 3.2k to what CnyCarvinC32 was referring to!... again, had I done this retrofit directly in Germany, it would have costed me not even 2000 euros in parts... (that is at costs directly from the MB wharehouse ).

As we mentioned before, when talking about prices, if economy is what you are looking for, then, it is rare that you will be able to get the AMG product, in this case the exhaust and say "I got it for 500 bucks"...lol... though, I whish I could be wrong on that one!!!...

Anyhow, about the parts and prices, I rather have you talk directly with the shop themselves. The information you requested is as follows:

Autowerks Direct
Att: Mike Daniels

Work: 858-569-2447

Address:
9285 Chesapeake Drive, Suite B
San Diego, Ca 92123

Remember, that if you use your existing bumper you will save yourself about 1500 bucks... look at mine and you can tell what workmanship they've done (I thought if the cutting didn't look 100%, then I would order the bumper, however, looking as good as it does, why spend the extra money? )

This weekend, the C32 is getting a long overdue car wash. The car has been sitting in the garage for the last almost 2 months... yup, the pics you saw were with the car sitting in the garage.. though it looks clean, to me, it is time to have it detailed then a few pics which I will post on the board for sure.

Cheers!
