I took some quick and dirty measurements with my caliper in English units...

Downstream of primary cats: 2.5" (9.8"^2)
Near secondary cats: 2.3" (8.3"^2)
Single pipe after the Y: 2.7" (5.72"^2)
Where it splits back to duals: 2"(6.28" ^2)

I wanted to replace the single pipe bottleneck in my car with an X-pipe and duals, but the space where it passes through between the diff and the lower a-arm mount is REALLY tight for (2) 2.25" pipes. There ISN'T space for (2) 2.5" pipes. A pair of 2" pipes might fit, but any kinks would reduce the area to equal or smaller than the single pipe. People have done it, but due to space limitations (and the asymmetrical sway bar), I doubt there would be much if any benefit.

As a more conventional alternative, the Black Series CLK bar fits (with some slight mods to the end links) and has the hump on both side for pipes, but I can't get any info on its diameter.
