What does the c55 have for the rear gear ratio? I am looking to go for the e55 rear gear ratio, and also was interested in seeing what differential interchanges with the c55. Does the e55 have the same ring and pinion?

The final drive is 3.06. Shorter than W210 or W211 E55 rear gear ratio.

I guess I should ask what differentials exchange with the c55 differential. Looks to be like a w210 unit. I’m looking to go to a 2.65 rear gear and wondering what I can exchange it with,

Yeah, I got that part of your question, but I was answering: "What does the c55 have for the rear gear ratio?" and "Does the e55 have the same ring and pinion?"

If you're talking swapping pumpkins, the W210 E55 has a 2.82 ratio and the housings are not the same. The W211 E55 has the 2.65 rear gear but has a very different housing than the C55. I think you're looking at swapping R&P from a W211 E55 if possible. AFAIK, 2005+ W211 E55's and our C55's both have 215mm ring gears.

Are you aware you need your TCU programmed if you swap R&P?

Yes , I am going to do an M113k swap in the c55 and was probably going to do this at the same time. I wonder if a 2005 or 2006 E55 tcu would do the trick temporarily with the gear swap. I wouldn’t have to mess with the ECU and tcu twice.
thank you for the information BTW
