Thanks for the support!! I'll definitely replace the fuel filter. At the moment, I have the car at my cousin's farm where he has a shop with a concrete floor and a car lift. I'm going out there to work on the car this weekend. I know I need to replace the water pump.

I was able to clear all the codes and stop all the oil leaks. However, I still have a power steering leak. I ordered a new reservoir with built-in filter and o-ring, along with two cans of power steering fluid. I still have most of another can, so I can do a full flush if I need to. Hopefully, the power steering pump and the steering rack aren't compromised.

I will also change the water pump at the same time. I also purchased a new thermostat and housing. I eyeballed that temperature sensor, but it seems to be working well so I'll hold off on it.

I also have a new LCD screen to put in so I can make sure I'm addressing all the messages from the car. I can't read most of them.

Finally, I'm going to check out the wheel bearings and see what kind of shape they are in. I do need to do some suspension work, but I want to get a feel for how good the bearings are in case I have to work on those at the same time I have the front end apart for bushings and struts and shocks for the back. I know I need some sway bar links, probably all four corners.

Anyway, power steering, water pump and thermostat, LCD screen and wheel bearings. That's the agenda for the weekend. If I get all that done, I should be able to pass inspection.

On the power steering leak, I was able to find a pin hole in my high pressure PS hose by getting someone to turn the steering wheel all the way to locking while I watched the reservoir, hose, and rack. We had it on a lift in the shop.

Hopefully it's just the reservoir seal, but like you, I could have a high pressure hose leak. I just haven't had a chance to really look at it. I know the banjo bolt was loose when I first got the car and I tighten that, but I still have the leak.

I need some advice!

So the water pumps are not identical. If you look at the top where the original pump has the pulley race placed, it's different on the new pump. They combine a bolt and the pulley race. I'm not sure if it's going to work.

Does anybody recognize this spring?

This spring was behind the water pump between the water pump and the block. I don't know what it's for? It was just sitting there loose when I pulled the pump.

Different gaskets. Not sure it'll work.

My water pump came with a flat gasket, but the original has the rubber gasket that fits into the groove in the block. What do you think?

I just placed an order for the right pump and gaskets. No sense in shortcutting with the wrong pump, assuming that I might be able to make it work. I learned a lot from this one.

Yesterday was a good day on the C32:
  1. New water pump and Zerex coolant. No more pulley wobble or noise, no leaks.
  2. I had already replaced the power steering reservoir/filter, oring seal but didn't have a chance to run the engine because the water pump was off. I put in new fluid, bled the system, no leaks, no noise, handles very well.
  3. New LCD screen. I bought an ebay replacement, maybe it will last. I can see the messages clearly now.
  4. I need a tail light lamp and the coolant reservior won't hold fluid - it is missing a plug.
Once I get the last two items adddressed, I can get the car inspected. The car still has many issues, but she should be back on the road soon enough.

Musical water pumps

No wonder I don't have fluid

I was able to start the car this weekend and run it. Maybe 20 miles up and down the road. So far no leaks on the power steering fluid. I'll keep an eye on it. Of course. I thought I had the right banjo bolt crush washers but they were a little too small. I'm going to have to order some more. I reused the originals and so far no leaks but I'll keep an eye on that pressure hose. I'll also get some good crush washers.

I absolutely took care of all of the misfire codes first - I already knew that from years of wrenching.
I have had to take a break for a couple of weeks to take care of some home repairs. However, I should be back at it this week. I am also researching the issues with no A/C. That one will probably be the biggest challenge. I have learned where the expansion valve is and where the pressure sensor is. From what I have read, the expansion valve provides the same function as an orifice tube. As far as the pressure sensor goes, is the signal from the sensor simple on off (hi/lo voltage) or is it an analog signal?
