2003 C32 troubleshooting and repairing my AC system

The car is driving soooooo much better, but it is HOT HOT HOT in Texas and I need to work out the problems with the AC unit.

Prior, I have pulled and maintained vacuum on the system, so I will proceed with trying to charge the system. I have a Youcanic scan tool, so I should be able to reset the low pressure code, actuate the compressor, etc.

My big concern is about compressor oil. I have no idea if this is the original compressor, how it has been maintained. Based on the condition of the rest of the car, the AC system has been neglected. Is there a way to drain the compressor oil without removal from the car? If not, should I add some when charging? Looks like 20 CC is a full quantity of oil and 850 grams of R134a.

I pulled and held a vacuum for 2 hours. I have added 33.51 oz of r134a to the system, but the compressor will not cycle on. I have tried to force it on with my scan tool. I have also reset all the codes. However, the refrigerant pressure sensor is reading 0 and I think this is inhibiting the compressor operation. I am stuck for now. I will take a look at the pressure sensor and see if a wire is off, but that should show an error code, not 0 psi. I will also need to locate the fuse and relay and the appropriate SAM to check those, but until I get a pressure reading, even if the fuse and relay are good, that compressor will not run.

My sensor reads 0 psi

Pulling vacuum

Initial vacuum, both sides open

Vacuum 2 hrs later

Hopefully your compressor isn’t bad, they are very hard to find and expensive

Yes, I'm hoping it's not the compressor. I still have to rule out the sensors.

EDIT: I purchased a new sensor from FCP. I just didn't feel like crawling around a junk yard to save $20-30. Hopefully, it is just a simple failed sensor and not a harness or a second sensor.

yes, pressure switch seems like the best logical (and cheapest) part to swap...good luck with that being the culprit
