05 C55 stiff steering during low RPMs and reversing

I recently started having super stiff steering when in low RPMs and while reversing, there is a whining noise and I’m have a feeling that I either need a new power steering pump, or an even worse situation is low voltage for the vehicle.

as soon as revs hit 800rpm power steering is back to perfect and smooth operation BUT as soon as revs fall below 800 it becomes stiffer and stiffer until at 600rpm I can not turn the wheel AT ALL right nor left.

when I do try to turn wheel i do hear emphasized whining from the engine bay

The car only has 46k miles so no excessive wear and tear.

I’m not very well versed in my c55 yet so seeking opinions and others experience

obviously check the power steering fluid first....possibly swap the reservoir which contains a filter and try new fluid. Otherwise the pump or rack is faulty.

If you have a decent scanner there is a setting for parametric steering adjustment typically hidden in the ABS menu.
If that does not help just hang a new pump and move on with your life....
