C32 oil consumption after repairs

My 2002 C32 has 225k miles and had been going through about 3.5 quarts of oil between 8k mile oil change intervals. After getting my valve cover gaskets and rear crank seal replaced, I just added my first quart after 3400 miles. Is that excessive for a C32 with that kind of mileage?

Be lucky it’s still running at that mileage. I have 100,000 mile cars that have engines that look brand new inside that use a quart every 800 or so miles. Every rubber seal or gasket in that engine is on deaths door, the orings for the front cover,as well as the oil pump oring is living on borrowed time. The valve stem seals are hard as a rock by now.

I have just refreshed 2 m112k engines in the past couple of months. The first one had the coolant oring disappear into the coolant passage somewhere, dumping all coolant. and the other one the orings were jelly soft. Valve stem seals were cracked on one engine, and very very stiff on the other engine, not holding much oil back. Both oil pump pickup orings were hard and loose, not sealing letting air in.
All of these engines are going to need these replaced, but they aren’t easy to replace. They pretty much require engine out heads off disassembly, lots of work. I am in the process of tearing down a complete m113k to install $50 worth of seals because I pulled the water pump and can see the suction side oring bulging. I believe I gets soft and the water pump sucks it out of its silly little holder because it turns to jelly,

I can say that I fixed the rough idle caused by old plug wires at 2200 ohms, new ones were 1800. I changed everything from injectors to plugs and looked for vacuum leaks. These cars are going to require lots of attention and parts. If you are using coolant and it’s not leaking, your timing orings are done.
