Help needed with 1999 C280 I've searched this site but am still lost

My battery died. Caused several problems. Replaced with NEW battery, everything affected (I think) back to normal?

I bought car in 2020. Cruise control did not work at all at that time and person I bought car from didn't know anything. It was two years later that battery failed so I cannot confidently say the cruise control failed from that. Possibly previous failed battery with previous owner who knew nothing to begin with?

Could the cruise control have been disconnected and if so, is there any physical visual confirmation of such under the hood, or?

Please help. Thank you.

Steelphin66.....

You're in the C32/C55 AMG Forum. While you may get some help here......your best best is to post this in the C Class forum where there are exponentially more C280 members who may have dealt with this same issue.

Good luck......

Rob,

Thank you very much. I am not very experienced in this type of online forum. I thought from a listing I saw that included the C280, which I have, that I chose the correct section. Hopefully I can find it. Do I repost my request for this help by copy and pasting it once I find the correct place to do so?

Again, thank you for kindly letting me know instead of making me feel even more clueless than I already am.

Sincerely,

Chris H.

Check the steering wheel stalk. Those tend to fail. Ive never heard of cruise control failing on a w202. It can act weird if you have aftermarket wheels that are bigger.

My stalk failed for my blinkers on my old c43 and I believe it effected the cruise control too. Most likely the case for you too.

Chris......

You chassis is a w202.023 which would be the C-Class 202 Forum. Here's the url: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w202-27/ and you can enter your search question and, hopefully, you'll find forum members who've had the same issue you're experiencing, too, and offer actual solutions.
Again, good luck, and let the forum know the results.
