Talking M&M, I think you've been married longer than I have.

Anyway, if that was the RS6 in the pix, he's not the greatest driver in the world. All you have to do to hit a 1.8-1.7 60' in that AWD car is power-brake it and go. No spin, just gone. Was he asleep, had the parking brake on, or running 85 octane fuel, or was he just utterly uninformed about "power braking"? He should have taken you off the line much better than that!

Looks like he reeled you in at the end, but that launch was the suck. Teach him how to power brake...those things *explode* off the line.

OH yeah video no. 2 he did stuff up. Launched from idle. He still ran me down & passed me. But Vid no. 1 he did a good launch.

Actually he's a very good driver. He has a 550hp Ford Escort Cosworth that does low 11's. He's done 12.7 with his RS6 at this elevation before. His 1st ever time drivig my car he did 13.3 with no practise.

He does powerbrake but moving almost 2 tonnes off the line isn't that easy. He has lag to deal with. At altitude the lag is worse as their air pressure is so much less. At sea-level if he torque-brakes he can come off the line on-boost. Here he torque-brakes & sometimes it comes off the line *JUST* off boost for a moment & then hits boost. Its very frustrating 'cos you can only torque brake to about 2200rpm & the turbos start boosting just after that.

Only saw one RS6 video, and that took forever to access...

...but the first one you mention sounds more like it.

Never been in one launched up at the altitude you're mentioning, but down low they just rocket off the line. The RPM seems odd, though; from what I've read (here, for example) they're making max torque from 1950 rpm up...nice thing about a turbo, you can give them a table-flat torque band.

But altitude really screws with it like that?? I thought turbos were supposedly altitude-correcting...odd....

Anyway, get a decent server and post some of those runs!

Yeah at sea-level he get boost from 1700rpm. Problem with our altitude is the air is almost 20% less dense so theirs 20% less pressure in the exhaust off boost & it takes longer to build boost. He gets boost about 2200-2300rpm. Here's the videos:
