Help with hood latches

Ok I messed up bad. I had to change my cooling fan, so the radiator support had to come out. I removed and replaced the hood latches as part of the process. Both cables were reattached, but may have slipped off while everything was still susceptible to moving. I now have one side latched and the other sticking up a bit. I can neither close the hood all the way nor open it. The driver's side (with the super short cable) is latched. Any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is pulling off the wheel and and fender liners but I don't know what kind of angle that may leave me to attack the latch.

I got it. I pulled back the inner fender on the driver's side and pulled hard on the cable it popped open with no problems.

Well done !

I got myself into a similar situation after replacing the water pump and various other parts in the front of the engine.
I removed the driver side wheel, fender liners and just pulled the cable. The drivers side latch opened but the passenger side did not. I then proceeded to remove the passenger side wheel and liners and the horn. Then I was able to see the latch and pushed it open using a long screw driver.
i have since bought the replacement cable for the front section (two cables joined to one).I will be replacing it tomorrow. I think I damaged the cable to the passenger side latch by pinching it under the cross member on top of the radiator.
i know how it feels when the damn hood doesn’t open.
it’s a crazy feeling even when you know you’ll eventually find a way to get it open.

my learning: always try to close the latches manually and open them via the hood release a number of times every time you touch/remove/replace the latches, and BEFORE you close the hood for a test drive !
cheers,
MO
