C AMG Performance package or new engine?

http://germancarfans.zeroforum.com/zerothread?id=12047 http://www.rennteam.com/showflat.php...0&page=0#65753 The latter two cars have Illinois plates. Anyone thinks we have a Performance package ala SL55 being tested here or engine test mules? Just a thought, the C has 19inch wheels, for bigger brakes, you'd need bigger brakes to cope with more engine power, so are they mules for the new V8? BUT the CLK/E/CLS all have 18's so whats going on here? :nix: |
All i know is umm..
the new C65 is gonna have 508 HP |
There will be a C Performance Package, but as far as I know, as of this moment, there won't be a C6x. But AMG can always change their mind anytime.
|
but then i'v read december's Car and Driver in chinese version, it says all models will be changed to 63/65 pretty soon
|
Wow how stupid.
Who the hell wants to try to fight with a V12 overweight boat? The M3csl looks hotter and hotter with every ticking second that passes by. I can picture it now... understeer like crazy. |

Hmmm ... did I make a mistake purchasing the C55? Is this MB's last stab at the W203 platform to keep sales going and remain competitive but they didn't put everything into it that they really needed, or wanted, to (e.g. digital climate control, limited slip rear, more gears in the tranny, maybe parktronic option, etc)? When did the W203 platform start and how often does MB roll them to a new one? I wonder though how service and parts availability will be if they only make the C55 for one year. Anyway, I guess I made my bed, so I'll keep it for a while and see what they come out with.

Hello Members ...
To fit the 8 zyl engine - AMG had to increase the space for the engine by 12 cm ( approx 5 inch) .. so how much do you think - they have to widen the engine compartment for the 65 engine  OK, what some of you could see on pictures was the C55 with Perfomance package parts from AMG Manufactur Affalterbach. (see attached pics) - unfortunately this parts only got a homologation for Germany  If you have more questions ... please ask .... have visited AMG several times to convince them to sell me one.... :wall: - Two days ago a (used) M3 CSL was delivered to my garage ... kind regards Walter |
GREAT Pics! The CF interior is very nice! I think i want that front bumper! :y

Rgds, Norm The CLS55 will not get 7G. Same reason that C55 did not get it. That was due to the production of 7G debut on SLKs , CLS350/500 only started production in Sep 2004, so AMG was possibly not having the chance/time to test the 7G on both C55 and CLS55. Whereas, the late comer W211 E350 offers 7G plus a 3.5 litre engine identical to the SLK350 ! I read R&T that 2006 M4 will be a 4.4 litre V8 with 380hp! ( not sure if it gets the SMG III like the new M5 ) A good guess is MB marketing division will do follows:- 2006 CLK55 will have a major facelift to equip with the 7G Tranny and get an engine tuned up to 380-400hp. The 2006/7 new C AMG will receive the same specification as the CLK55 AMG facelift. Whether a new 4-valve V8 engine is true, that will see what the 2005 S-class gives us. |

For the current C chassis (W203), the 7G is not an option because it doesn't fit for some reason. Not sure about the CLK. Regarding the E55, CLS55, S55 or higher output models... the 7G can't handle the high torque of these engines and will be available later for the new V8 (63). |

I already mentioned in another thread as these facts were what I read about an interview with AMG marketing director. I agreed that the production 7G will not fit for AMGs until AMG had all the time to modify it. cnt |

Thanks for clearing up a lot of the misinformation. Do you have any pics of your M3 CSL? They don't sell that awsome car in the USA. |
