wow, harris has an amg parts catalog... that's a measure of true genius right there.

May be AMG division just don't give a damn about this. How many AMG engines they can built every year? There are always demand more than supply; that makes AMG cars a privilege to own.
I am sure AMG will manage a balanced technical and marketing strategy.
One thing is true . only displacement will please the Americans where that's 50% of the AMG sale is.

A good guess is AMG wants to retain 'smaller' engines for their convertibles where most people buy them do not want monsters engines.

And, they might also want to consider to give two options to C AMG owners
1. C60 - 420hp
2. C63 - 520hp

My guess is C63 will be a real race car with a E63 engine perfromance. It will not be as 'cheap' as the C60 but will be close to the price of a E63. That's for people who want the E63 power but don't want the big body and luxury of the E-Class. Or there may not be a C60 but a tuned down 6.3 V8.

Sorry man, but your tone of typing has been disrespectful from the start. In no way have did you indicate in your original post that you were singling out Harris and not Walter.

Walter has given us much information regarding various models in the past - you could show him the same sort of respect and professionalism that he showed you.

WOOW openning this thread is like openning an oven... Too much heat.
AMG are gettin crazy with displacement. A small car like the C class running with a 6.3L engine, thats alot. I think that anyone who buys one won't be thinking alot about fuel economy .. 6.3L wow. Thats big..
Although I don't drive a Benz, I am a big fan... The C class is maybe a little bigger than my Volvo. When I hear C63, I just imagine 6.3L under the hood of my Volvo.. LOL .. My Volvo has 1948cc engine lol thats even less than 1/3 lol.
Not bad for such a small engine to put out ~250bhp ~400Nm.

Actually the 5.5 liter engine in the C55 is pretty economical, at least compared to my S4 which GULPS fuel like crazy... It's funny though how the C55 has a total of 24 valves compared with 40 in the S4...

I think that benz uses 3 valves instead of 4 or 5 because that extra spark plug needs room in the head.

Then why is it that they are reverting back to DOHC engines?
I thought the 3 valve/cylinder set-up had more to do with economy...

i have not heard of anything about a "60 AMG", even though the bi-turbo engine might be a 6.0 liter but they will remain to be badged as 63s. so c63, e63, cl 63, S63 and etc..

as of the hp, here is what i think:

c63 (V8 NA): 440 hp - this car wont go over 500hp
e63/cls63/ml63/r63 (V8 NA): 490 hp - close to 500 hp compete with new m5
cl63/sl63/s63 (V8 bi-turbo): 560 hp
cl65/sl65/s65 (V12 bi-turbo): same as current 65s (604 hp)
clk63: no one cares about clk (maybe NA V8 with 460 hp)

On my daily 25km packed traffic highway+hill roads journey , on my ex-W210 E320 , it consumes ~11 litre/100km. The C55 consumes 13.5 litre/100km. That means C55 is really not bad for that.

At real packed traffic with lots of starts/stops at traffic lights
the C55 consumes 17-19 litre/100km.

The only issue is our fuel costs is three times the States

Why don't you move here so that you don't have to pay twice the price for the car and three times the price for fuel...

Ouch 19 L/100km .............................. God bless the 2.0L turbo charged engines
Highway = ~7 L/100km thats while doing ~120km/h
Traffic = ~10-11L / 100km

Not bad for a car that can clock the 1/4m in mid 14s @ 160km/h (ok I know thats nothing compared to what you guys AMG badge owners can do)

Yeah! The money I paid for my C55 can get a SL500 in USA.
USA is the world's No.1 for sport/luxury car fans.
Believe or not , luxury car price in HK is still the cheapest in Asia!
In Thailand , they are doubled HK price! But their fuel cost is similar to USA

We've discussed this before - the pics are really just a performance package - they are not the new C63.

Average fuel consumption is 13+19=32/2=16 litre/100km
Above based on 50%/50% mixed driving conditions, thus, the C-class 62 litre fuel tank can do 400km. But when I do more city traffic drivings, 320km a tank is about right. And, 320km is about the average fuel consumption of most owners here.
Believe or not , doing real harsh on the fuel pedal is not as bad as start/stop at traffic lights.

yeah I know, more than 3/4 of my driving is inside city, so I guess for my daily driving a car like C55 might cause a huge finacial problem for me... But thinking againt buyin a C55 is a financial suicide in the first place.. Never the less the car is absolutly amazing One day hopefully :v
