Sweet.....leaning towards getting one myself. Can't wait to see what the aftermarket superchargers and turbos will produced on the stock 500 horsepower (700-800HP).

Nice specs, I prefer the FRC bodystyle though. What is the MSRP? Is your deposit for MSRP? It should be a fun car, enjoy I had a lot of fun with my '01 Z...

Wow, what a fantastic purchase. I personally dig the new Vette and I think the new Z06 should drive like a dream. I drove the last generation Z06 at one of the major GM events that's held across the nation every year and it was a blast to drive.

what is the msrp? ~$70k?
(The car will be released for sale in August as a 2006 model.)
Any pricing given now is in the realm of estimation, no matter who this is, including (perhaps especially) dealers.

About $65K and will run circles around the SL55 and SL65 for a fraction of the price. Best sports car for the value
I also put my name on the list. A exotic that will not break the bank!

Seriously though, this car should really make people think twice about some of the exotics. Don't get me wrong, it won't dissuade those picking up an Enzo or CGT, but for many who aren't hung up on brand it will be very appealing on the merits.

Having owed NSX's and 911 TT's I never was a Vette guy until the C6. I love the lines (very euro looking) and the performance even in non Z06 form is awesome. My understanding is that this car will come in a targa as well for open air thrills

While this car was just introduced (Monday!) there is still much that is under speculation. One of the details supposedly confirmed, however, was that it would not come factory (at least first-run) with a targa top. (However, the bolts to undo for this purpose are in place for aftermarket aspects.)
They wanted to keep the weight down.
Car weighs just over 3100 lbs. Power to weight ratio moves this car.

Be leary of a targa and check with c6 owners to see if they have the structural rigidity to ward off flex and creaking etc. I was never much of a vette lover until the intro of the FRC body in '99. The FRC is solid piece and suffers none of the creaking and flexing of the sister c5's. This "may" have been cured with the c6 targas, but I am always a little skeptical. I've read as much as I can find about the c6z and have read that it is a targa, and that it is not a targa because that would have required 44lbs of additonal structural enhancements.
I personally prefer the aesthetics of the notchback/FRC as well, although there is a drag penalty that kept a stock z06 to @170/175 on the top end versus about 185 or so for the targa body. Given that, this new Z should approach, if not exceed, 200mph and that my friends is sick for a GM product for less than $70k.
