2005 Carlsson CD32 E320 CDI Inline-6
STS-V for $75K or E55 for $85K
The choice is obvious.
Which car oozes class and is not associated with geriatric?
E55 is nice to look at, Caddillac is boxy and anonymous looking even if it is fast.

And what about that pig of a car, the X5 special? At close to 5,000lbs, it must be a misprint that it turned better than a 7:50? Or Hans must have cut a few burms across the infield? BMW's feat is a remarkable engineering accomplishment as was the 959 project car.

Why even try to compare the C55/C32 to a STS? its like me making a thread comparing a Jetta to an E-class.
If you just wanted to talk about how caddy has gained respect from you then i would just make a thread saying so and not compare it to other cars not in its class.

Ekaru.. I owned an RS6 for 6 months
The only thing I liked about it was the suspension. There must be a lot of curves on the ring. It is easily embarrased on a highway by cars that cost half as much. The rs6 makes most of its power at lower speeds and is easily eclipsed by the E55 at any speed. The E55 in that list is the older 210 model. The current s4 has a much better interior than the RS6, especially the seats. By the way, my wife is probably going to opt for the s4 vs the c55 based on your comparison review. Thanks for the help. If they come out with the 7 speed tranny in 06 for the C55 we might switch back. Thanks again.

I don't think there's a single person who wouldn't agree that Cadillac is still playing catch-up to Mercedes (and BMW for that matter) in many aspects.. Cadillac knows. Cadillac owners and enthusiasts know. Everybody knows. However, Cadillac has become a contender with the worlds greatest luxury/performance vehicles in a relatively short amount of time.. Discussions like this weren't even imaginable over a year ago.

Not the way GM's going...The CTS-V is not selling well here in OC, CA
A huge car market and home to the largest MB Delaers in the US.
This is a last hurrah I bet..
They can't compete much longer and will take their Domestic junk and go away.
The STS-V is supposed to compete with a enrty leval AMG..wow that's AIMING HIGH....
Like a 10 year old retarded kid fighing a 6 year old in a sandbox....

Cadillac isn't "junk". Just because something isn't considered the best doesn't make it junk. And if OC, CA is home to the largest MB dealers in the US, I wouldn't figure Cadillacs would sell better there.. Why would they? I'm sure wherever is considered "home of the largest Cadillac dealers" in the US, Cadillac sells more than Mercedes...

I had a CTS-V and like it a lot but the interior was terrible and the manual transmission was not very good. I traded it for my C55, which is a little quicker with a much nicer interior. I do applaud Cadilac for its efforts. The interior the STS's is almost as bad as the CTS-V.

I'm not a real big fan of the Cadillac interiors either.. I like the older ones better, in fact. My DTS is fine - that's what I like.. They're getting more like BMW now, though.. So I can't argue with you there.. Still, they've come a long way and should get credit. Hey, when is competition a bad thing?
