Lowering our cars...

I just picked up a set of 18's vs. 19's because I wanted to stick with ride quality. I know that the front of my C32 needs to be lowered pretty badly. I was wondering what you guys suggest as to some springs. I was reading about the H&R coilovers, H&R springs, and Vogland Springs? I think I just want to lower the car for now but what do you guys suggest is a nice drop with the car. Thanks

If you want an economical way to lower the car and keep the ride from being too harsh, Renntech springs are probably your best bet because they are well matched with the C32 shocks. It has been said that others, like H&R (large drop) and Eibach (moderate drop), will eventually cause your stock shocks to blow. Other options include matched spring/shock combos like H&R cup kit or Eibach pro kit. I have the H&R kit on my C230 sedan, but had to cut half coil off the front springs to get the drop just right. Vogtland springs have been getting more popular with forum members and the drop is moderate like Eibach. Just search around and find a set up that suits your needs. There are lots of threads with pictures and reviews for you to make a good comparison and educated decision. Good luck!

For looks and comfort, buy the RENNtech spring for $500, or the H&R coilovers for $1,000 depending on the cash you have available.

I say go with RENNTech springs, I am very happy with them!!! H&R drops lower but makes your car camber like crazy.

are people getting with the H&R's??? I thoughts that if you dropped the front or rear "x" amount, the camber would be the same regardless of the spring manufacturer. Are people getting the greater camber b/c the H&R's are dropping that end of the vehicle lower than the competitor's spring? Or are they getting greater camber w/ the same amount of drop?

the car is "supposed" to camber with lowering springs as you go lower... this is so that the outer edge of your wheel wont rub on the fender!!!

yes and no, it has to do with the inherent design of the front macpherson struts. part of the reason why double wishbone is so desirable in race applications..

I went with eibach springs a long time ago and the ride has deteriorated since. is there any sure way to know if your shocks have blown?

let me rephrase...

I originally stated:
"I thoughts that if you dropped the front or rear "x" amount, the camber would be the same regardless of the spring manufacturer..."

Maybe I should have said:
"I thought that if you dropped the front or rear "x" amount, the "RELATIVE" camber would be the same regardless of the spring manufacturer..."

I, along with some others, feel that we cannot get "enough" camber, regardless of how much we lower the c32. If the H&Rs gave too much camber, GREAT, then we could always dial it back towards "0".

As for the wheel potentially rubbing on the fender, our c32/c55's were, unfortunately, never designed to accept "big" rubber in both the front & rear I can attest that I can run some pretty big rubber on the 911 turbo's (Stock & Lowered) partially because they designed the fenders to accept such.

Cheers!
