C55 Black Box?

C55 Black Box?
Anyone know if our C55's have a black box that records vehicle use information just prior to an accident? Just curious, as I know that more cars these days (many GM & Ford) are coming with these things now & they constantly record what you are doing, then stop after airbags are deployed & save the last few seconds or minutes for the factory and/or police to study.

My understanding that the
"silver" box (aka black box) has been around in ANY vehicle equipped w/ Air Bags.
I remember reading a couple of articles stating that Automaker's Lawyers were advising the car manufacturers to incoporate these boxes so that they could protect themselves under certain lawsuits (say if someone died in an accident & the airbag went off & did not save them.. & they were travelling at 250km/hr)

Actually this hardware is part of the engine control unit ECU. I believe the vmax information gets written over after starting the vehicle 15 times so if you are really bad just restart the car 15 times.

There is some information stated in the owner's manual about information collected and how that information will be provided to law enforcement/insurance companies etc. (I'm not quoting) It's been a while since I read it but I thought it related to air bag deployment etc., which would tie into the SOS system notification etc
