C55 Fuel Tank Capacity Question

This puzzles me for a long time that is the C55 52 litre fuel does inlcude reserve or it doesn't. Last week, it was the first time I drove the car for 20km even after the fuel empty warning light was ON. When I got to the gas station; they managed to fill the tank with 53 litre! (Based on the LCD display I was reading, it seemed the car was still able to run for another 20 km or so ) This means the fuel tank of C55 can hold more than 52 litre gas. But my question is, exactly how many litre of fuel that the tank can hold?

I think the total capacity includes the reserve. The reserve is not a separate tank but just the amount that should be remaining after the warning light comes on. So, my understanding (from other cars as well):

Total Capacity = Amount Consumed Before Light + Amount Remaining After

Rgds,

Fine that s I thought so. I am really interested to know exactly how many litre of fuel that the c55 Tank can hold. If it only holds 52 litre , then that means I was almost 'breakdown' because if I could fill 53 litre to it, that tank was almost empty. This is important for me as I can estimate how many more km I can drive after the warning (reserve) light is ON.

Yes . You are right C55 also does have that.

The problem is when I was reading it before I arrived the station, it reads between 60/80km - which was based on my last trip's consumption rate. Since I was on highway, so that means it will not be 80km when I am driving in jammed traffic city.
So, I would like to know how many litre of petrol is in the tank when the warning light is on. I always do an average of 7-7.5 km per litre, so that is my mid reference point. And, in emeregency case, I can drive lightly on gas to make sure I can get to the gas station.

We seldem drive more than 50km a day, so we tend to be quite lazy to fill gas , especially we kind of stick to a particular gas company for better discount. And then, this small tank of W203 is just not serving the 5.5 litre engine much good.

cheers

Good Luck!

Well I will try to help you out, but this may actually get you into more trouble
I know for a fact that my C32 can holds 16 gal (US), I have put 15.75 and 15.85 gal in several times and once put in 16. 16gal equates to 60.5 liters.

Based on your km left and consumption I would guess you actually can put up to 60L in. Don't press your luck though. You are dealing with the last few liters in your tank.

Wonderful. believe or not, life is not simple; there exists the Imperial System Gallon on the link I used to convert unit GALLON to LITRE
units conversion link

Based on your 16 USA Gallon , it comes to
16 3.7854 60.5664
Okay, 60 litres is what the C32 capacity is .
Well, Let's believe all W203 fuel tank capacity size is the same , i.e.
16 GALLON or 60 LITRE

This means, the official stated 52 litre tank capacity does not include the
reserve . The reserve is therefore to be 8 litre.

It seems it is reasonable to assume , the C55 can still run 56km after the warning light is ON. ( Last time, my C55 LCD Distance was 80km, so I guess it was because I was drving smoothing on highway )
