Question Will need new rear tires soon

I'm wondering how wide can I go on the on the original AMG 17x8.5 rims. I figure 255's should be easy but anyone know if I can do 265's without fender mods?

Be careful about larger diameter wheels. You will mess up the ESP and antilock systems. They require an exact wheel diamater. It is possible to have the dealer reset the computer's idea of your tire size, but I don't think it will like different diameters front and back.

My car is running 235/35/19 and 265/30/19 for over 3 months now. I dont see any problems with ESP or Anti-Lock brakes. What are you talking about? Who wants a different diameter for the wheels? I thought he just wants to have wider tires.

hily sped: I think you should go with 255 at the rear, 265 is too much

I agree, to have 265s you should run at least 9.5" in the back. 255 is fine for 8.5"

I might take this opportunity to ask what everyone's tire choice would be, if they were to buy four new tires.

Pirelli P-Zero
Michelin Pilot
Conti Sport
Bridgestone S-02, S-03
etc...
