i don't think there were any official news on the successor of C55 W203.
Seems we could only guess if the 5.5 AMG 3-valve engine were to be replaced by a 4-Valve, the next gen of AMG C-Class will likely either be a C60 or a C63.
Anyone , any news ?

when is the new AMG C expected to come out?
i've been dilly-dallying over getting a C55 for almost 2 months now (still stuck in the 'should i get an M3, S4, or C55' debate), but if a new successor is on the way any time soon, i would much rather wait then jump the gun prematurely

As the 3-Series has launched already, even we assume longest wait time, the M3 will definitely be out in early 2006.

New S-Class will launch in Oct 2005. The new C-Class always launch 9-12 months after the launch of S-Class. So, we will see new C-Class by end 2006. The C AMG will therefore be launched in early 2007.

Unless you don't mind to change cars often, else, your should wait if you go for top end models of the C-Class W203. But if you don't mind to change car every two years, if it were in HK, the new launch will be slightly late; thus, I would always suggest to get the C350 7 Speed 272hp now and change it to a C AMG within two years. Or if BMW is the choice, get a 330i 258hp now.

Consider MB's new generation C AMG might be a bit late than the new M3 400hp; if MB is aggressive to kill the M3 market; then I would guess MB might come up with a interim C60 engine and stuff it in the W203 in early 2006 Of course, who knows...
Above guess above is based on MB's recent move to put the 4-Valve 272hp engine into C and E i.e. C350 and E350. The C350 is to beat the 330i's 258hp and the E350 is to beat the 530i and share a bit of the market of 545i.

The only year that seems to be consistently coming up for a new C Class is the 2008 model year presumably coming out in 2007. With the car rumored to have a CLS "flavor". With the current C55 in it's first model year it's doubtful that a new C Class AMG would be coming out soon, also the entire C Class line had a refresh in 2004.

There has been a lot of press for the March introduction of the C Class Sport Edition as well as the new engines that will be available for the C 350

There are a variety of so-called spy shot web sites like autospies.com etc that have photos of shrouded C-Class prototypes.

Personally I'd say buy the C55 enjoy it and trade up when the new version comes out.

thx for the info guys
i think i'll take your advice and get the C55 now, then consider trading for the new C AMG or the E90 M3 two-years from now

.
Fine. My view is the C-Class launch to be early 2007 seems to be more reasonable. I did not base on rumours. If I recall correctly, years back, W203 was launched one year after the launch of the S-Class. This was why W203 had used a lot of S-Class technology as the press claimed ( but dont know exactly what elements of technology). The CLS is based on E-Class, there should be no more surprise but the foreciming MB flagship S-Class will be what we really look at. For non critical use, the C350 should be rated better than a C55 due to 7G-Tronic and 4-Valve engine and 272hp too. (Non AMG new C-class will get cornering light features too.)

Now, I would think twice if not to get a C350 with 7G but get a C55 which without. If one is not after the technology, he should get a used C32 now and change it to 2007/8 C AMG later.
