Tires

I think I finally found my C36 that I will hopefully be buying soon if all goes well.

I live in Chicago, and winters can be harsh. What is my best option when it comes to tires. I assume it is basically undrivable with regular summer tires on it. So could I go with all season tires and just leave them on year around, or should I just get a whole new wheel and tire package with winter tires on them and swap them every time the seasons change?

Also, is there any other costs related to this car that I should worry about right after buying it? Warranties etc?

you should carefully go over some posts on this forum, from what i gathered, there are some common problems associated with the c36 and the problems they state are not cheap to fix, so it might be adviseable to buy the extended warranty if all possible.

as far as your tires and if i was in your situation, i would probably get a good set of summer tires and rims and also have a cheapo rims with winter tires. i guess it would also depend on your cashflow, if you have the means, then two sets, if not, get a decent set of all weather tires.

can u even get 17" steels? never seen them. but get some cheap used 17" off ebay or something...www.aaarims.com or something. uses 215-45-17 snow tires, front and rear, per owner's manual. don't think 16" will fit over the brakes either..

Since you live in Chicago, I'd absolutely recommend dedicated snow/ice tires for winter. To me, all-season tires equate to all-compromise tires. Compounding this is the fact that your AMG car is a rear wheel drive car with plenty of torque and a light backend.

swap steelies with GOOD winter tires in winter. Like Nokians.

in summer, a set of nice 18" wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 is the best IMO
