1997 c36 tranny same as c43

I know that 97 c36s came with a 5 speed auto but I am not sure if it the same tranny that is in all the c43's. The reason I ask is because I want to buy a c36 soon but don't want the c43's tranny isssues.
thanks

Yes it will also affect C36 and C43.
You could look at service history, but if you;re looking for mint condition C36, Iam selling mine and the transmission issue has been address (it has new transmission).

I was hoping you wouldn't say that because I am looking at a 97 c36 froma dealer with 83k miles. If it has made it that far do you think it will be fine for a while.

If you search this forums and some other forums i.e (www.amgpower.com, www.mercedesshop.com, www.club202.com) for transmission failure you will see that it affect 5 speed electronic transmission.

Tranny failure is not a suprrised anymore.

I did try to gather some info on how many of us has had some transmission issue. Apparently not all owner that I knew had the problem reply to the post yet.

If it still has the original transmission chances are its will die sooner or later.

PS: This affect 5 speed electronic transmission

Hope this helps.
