My New 1999 C43! WOOOOOOOOOW!

I just got this BEAST 2 days ago, I traded it in with Saab 9-5 w/ stg 1 upgrade. Oh boy Saab is a little tin can compare to this BEAST! This black beauty has 76k miles, and I got it for $17k. I even met the previous owner, she babied it...

Please help me with small issues:
  1. Anyone has parts list?
  2. I am DIY person, hate dealers
  3. SRS light is constantly on, anyone knows how to fix that child seat sensor?

Thank you very much already! I am absolutely in love with this car, I could not sleep from excitement for 2 nights, believe it or not. This is the best piece of machine I ever owned!!!!! Hopefully with God's help, i get to keep it as clean, as safe as possible

I am located in GA, USA Saint Simons Island. Nearest Dealer is 80 miles away, I want to fix it myself if possible. People used to post pictures and stuff related the problems, I saved thousands of $$s like that. I am hoping the same thing here, as you know it's super xpensive to maintain these cars.

I tried tp post about 5 pictures, but did not work, prorbably pictures are too big.

There should be an official MB Service CD for the W202. I know they are coming out with one for the R170. If you are a DIY type, the CD would be a very nice to have.

You can check by calling 1-800-FOR-MERCedes. They cost around $150. One already exists for the M163.

Expect a very well built solid vehicle. This is nothing like other vehicles. You should already feel good about owning one of the 1500 builf vehicle anyways. I am only worried about the repair costs, my wife's aunt runs a Foreign auto shop, she said a front brake job (rotors, pads replaced) is about $900., It has 2 air filters, and 16 spark plugs. This thing is a BEAST man! I feel priviledged to own a car like this.
Watch out for child seat belt sensors, (my SRS light is still on), I am still not clear about the mileage(mpg), cause there are lot of numbers thrown out there. Do not burn the engine! (I heard it was $39000 itself). You don't own a MERCEDES! This is Porsche hidden in a 4 door Mercedes........ I am happy for you.

LOL...a new E55 V8 kompressor engine is about $30-35k. the C43 engine doesn't cost that much. A Brabus 6.1L V8 is only $32k minus the labor and they cost more than the AMG V8.

front rotors and pads cost around $300, not $900. All the MB now all have 2 filters buy the K&N or Green Filter so you don't have to replace them and only needs to clean them.

Interesting.....care to quote dollar amounts and WHERE the above engines can be purchased at...specifically the 4.3 ? Don't bother with the Brabus cause I doubt anyone really cares.

YaYa. I don't proof read my posts. I think the question is obvious. Where is the source for $300 front rotors and BRAKE pads.

I would change the tranny fluid and filter, ASAP! We share the same tranny and mine blew up at 70k and that was before the supercharger. Do some research on the subject but $300 is cheap for new fluid or you could spend $5000 to $6000 for a new tranny.
Congrats on the car, those are one of my favorite MB's along with a 94 500E.

I think we share the same rotors and calipers. If I were you I would get the crossed drilled C32/C55 brakes. They are bigger, better looking and cheaper than your stock ones. There are always some used ones for sale. They are also four piston compared to two piston. Oh, and get some Axxis dust free pads so you wont be cleaning those wheels so often

Every one of us who did the swap has a nice C43 engine you can have cheap (say about $4500 with complete wiring and fuel systems; $2500 for just the longblock), so feel free and burn it. There's a bunch more waiting in the wings...
