Question C280 tire question and engine question

Please don't flame me i'm new to MB and wondering what AMG rim will fit my 97 C280, Thinking AMG Styling III 18's. Also i have a serious lack of power, horrible acceleration, is this common for my model/engine, any response is appreciated. also looking to upgrade suspension, intake, and exhaust, ideas welcome. and recommendations for Mechanic's in Salt Lake Area besides the dealership please.

Any AMG wheels should work, at least if they're 17" or 18" without clearance problems. The C43 and C36's began life, at least originally as C280's. I think your HP figures are right around 195HP, according to an old brochure I have on the W202.

actually, if u get any amg rim with 17x7.5 on 225-45-17 with the stock/correct offest that will fit a c36/c43, it may not fit completely on a non-amg w202...

lemme rephrase, it will physically fit fine. however, on full lock, the front wheel will rub. my friend had a 95 c280 with 17x7.5 on all four corners with stock springs and pads on the thinner side, they rubbed on full lock

Hey,

You are from Salt Lake City as well..... I'd recommend German Car Service (heard nothing but good stuffs from them), Werner's Mercedes (very long waiting list though), or Andre's car repair (mostly deal with resto cars, but very cheaply priced I might add).

Your C280 shouldn't be that slow. Is the check engine light on by any chance??

I usually drive my 97' c280 as well. its sliver with sport package. if you see me honk!

The check engine light is not on but it starts kind rough today and has what sound to be valve slap happening at mid-high rpms (4000+)and a start up trying to schedule an appointment for Mech-Doctor thanx for the names of good shops. btw mine is the bronze/champange color if i see you will honk

And any good after-market sites/stores for our cars (performance based)???

I honestly don't think its worth it to modify C280 performance-wise. But you can alwasy get ECU, eisenmann exhaust, etc. If money is no object you can get Mosselmann turbo system.

I saw some champagne W202s here, where do you usually go around?? I usually go along 700 east, state street, the U, Highland, and avenues. Its nice to see other mercedes enthusiast here, since evryone here drives trucks and ricers.

If you have the time be sure to check out RMR this summer, Jakpro from this board has an w211 E55AMG with K2.

Cheers,
