Do a search for CPS or Crank Position Sensor. Not an uncommon problem at all and not difficult to fix. Sounds like it could be the culprit.

My 1st C43 went through this. The starter would turn over the engine, over and over but it would not start.

Once the Crank Position sensor was replaced the car was fixed.

What you're describing are the classic symptoms of a bad Crank Position Sensor.

Bob seems to be reporting that it didn't turn over though - "car would not start/turn over." That's not CPS related if true. I do know that these cars are very battery sensitive. A low battery can cause bizzare behavior.
I'm surprised the CPS isn't replaced as part of a dealer maintenance routine. They seem to go somewhere around 70K miles or so. I just replaced my wifes at 60K just to be safe. Imagine having to explain to her that a $30 part fails on a $40K car all the time.
