Is it a con??
I have about 1000 miles left before a service and the plugs etc are only 5000 miles old.
The first time my interval displayed 1000 miles I got what fealt like misfire.
I limped home with half an engine working and thought this was very odd as my car was running fine before.
I decided to check the car with my Diagnostic tool which reads all faults does tests and clears fault codes if you wish.
It stated that Cylinder 5,6,7 and 8 were misfiring.
I decided to reset the service interval only as I thought it was a bit of a coinsidence.
Immediatly the car ran fine and has run perfect for 3 weeks since.
My point is do you think the cars are "programmed" to act up when it comes close to a service so that you HAVE TO take it to the stealership?
What are your thoughts??
