type of tranny fluid?

im taking my car to an independent MB shop next week to have the tranny fluid changed out. does the C43 take a special tranny fluid over the regular non-AMG c class? i am a bit of a control freak, and am paranoid that the mechanic may not realize that my car is an AMG and use "regular" c class tranny fluid, if such exists.

thanks!

Special order, all natural transmission fluid that is squeezed from the rare chicamicostario tree, found only in the western mountains of Timbuktu... Or Mercedes Benz ATF, whichever you prefer

I would not get a 'run of the mill' ATF - get a high quality synthetic. Amsoil, Mobil One or Royal Purple. Check with the shop too, I had to provide my own fluid (capacity is app. 11qts, so bring twelve). I used Mobil One...

The only ATF that's approved for all Mercedes with 722.6 transmissions is MB. Yhis is true for AMG and non-AMG. No other brand should ever be used. If your shop suggests otherwise, do not use them. MB part numbers A001 989 21 03 10 or A001 989 45 03 13 are both acceptable. Nothing else.

Because a new transmission is ~$4000 wholesale, the ~$12 per liter investment in the proper fluid is cheap insurance.

Yep - use at your own risk. I've used 'others' with no issues whatsoever. I'm also changing the fluid on a 'supposed' lifetime ATF
