Brake Pad question

Hello friends,

I am very curious about my brakes. I got front pads and rotors replaced for about $840, 2006 April, and still going.....

Is that normal? Brakes work just fine, I do not drive agressively. Should I expect a brake light or something to come up when it is time?

Also how many sets of brake pads last with front rotors? I want a second opinion, cause my mechanic said, usually 3 sets of pads last with 2 set of rotors. Is that accurate?

Thank you in advance

(little note, I was not accurate on my mileage, i bougth the car 2 years ago woth 76k, and now I have 89k.)

The are fairly large brakes so they do last a long time if driven "normally". The light will only come on for the front pads when they are low, you still need to check the rears. They can last over 30,000mi if driven gentley or highway driving.

The rotors will last for more sets of pads if you drive gently. Generally you only replace them when they are worn to minimum thickness.

Totally dependant on driving style and driving enviroment but it is entirely possible.
