Engine Serial Number placement?

Engine Serial Number placement?
Looking at replacing water pump - serpentine belt has developed a periodic "squeal" and pulley on water pump is wobbly, so going to replace that, serpentine belt, pulleys and tensioner. When trying to buy part for water pump, it says for "serial number X and up", or "up to serial number X". Manual that came with car says where the serial number SHOULD be. ummmm, no luck! anybody know where the serial number is on 95 C36?

Check out any of your dealership invoices. Look under the box that states 'OPTIONS' look for something akin to this, mine is a 113 engine and it states "DLR:KY ENG:113944-60-002544" this is the number you're looking for.

Okay, found that, but are the last six digits the same as your VIN? Mine are...
My engine is a 202, which my "serial" number starts with, so it would make sense....just want to make sure before I buy the part. Thanks much!
