belt conditioner sprays
im experiencing periodic belt squeaks, only happens when the engine is cold, then goes away immediately after it warms up. i was planning on hitting the belts with belt dressing spray. ive used this stuff in the past on my old GTI, but now that im older and wiser 
, i was wondering if this stuff was actually good or if it was, in fact, detrimental in the long run to the belts.
does anyone know if using belt dressing is good or if its just a short term fix that ends up causing more damage than good?

my belts have never been replaced, but im wondering if its a pulley or something, or as suggested above, the tensioner. the weird weird thing is that when the engine is bone cold, and i start it up, there is a rhythmic, mechanical squeaking sound coming from the belt/pulleys area in front of the engine (almost sounds like the pulleys need some oil or something). once i drive it for literally 2 minutes, the noise disappears. does this seem symptomatic of anything that anyone has experienced?
