Xenon ballast shot

Well a few nights ago, was going to play pool with a friend and one of my headlights goes all wacko and then shuts off. The bulb is fine, but the ballast is done. Called up Mercedes of Manhatten for a quote on a new ballast...$450! Anyone know where I could get one for cheaper? Is this something I could replace myself...the ballast will be enough money alone I would at least love to save on labor costs. Thanks in advance guys.

thats not the same as our cars.... ours have a real long connector since the ballast is mounted on the frame rail.... may want to look into ballasts for early S class cars too.

Well that's what heat-shrinkable tubing, soldering iron and a little time can cure or you can dole out four 'C' notes - I'm sure those ballasts are common to many MB's save the connector or mounting bracket. I've taking apart MB connectors in the past as well and reused without having to slice. Get the parts and send it to me - I'll even do it for you.
