tach wire- please help if you know

it's a secret...
well, it's pretty obvious actually and sort of specific to the software i'm using.
anyways, my split second unit will allow me to take the signal from any of my coil packs and will use a "divisor" or "multiplier" to turn that into the true rpm... or so they say. I'll know for sure tomorrow night.
This is assuming the 3 wires to the coil packs are power, ground, and the signal i need to do this (which sure makes sense to me)

is that how it is on your car?
i've been told there are changes in '99. Of course there HAS to be a tach signal going to the tach of some kind, lol. If i have trouble taking it from the coil pack i'll go looking for that wire color at the ecu (which is located where in my car...)
