C43 Steering Wheel
.............I just got a very nice 1998 white c43 with two toned leather seats. The leather is in very good shape, but the white on my steering wheel is beginning to chip off. How should one go about fixing that? ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
............I plan to post pics soon.

My steering wheel looks like black chewing gum. I'm debating on just putting in the 2k to 2k1 W210 E55 steering wheel with the wheel controls.
Re-covering my present wheel my be the better and cheaper option.

HA! all of you are crazy! i got my c43 2 weeks ago and it had some chipping on the left top side of the steering wheel, just like lona described... i know this guy who does amazing body paintwork and interior restoration (he does 3 diff lambo dealerships here in atlanta) anyway i asked him about the steering wheel, and as he was sanding and repainting my rear bumper to remove some scratches and a wheel rub mark he charged me 50 bucks and resurfaced my steering wheel. as long as the leather isnt torn into he can restore it he says. im posting a pic to show you....
he uses the same type of high-durability latex-based paint mb uses to coat the leather... you can see on the right side of the white trim where my dirty hands have already started to take their dirtying toll on my newly restored wheel, but after about a thousand miles and alot of agressive steering wheel grabbing and turning, the new paint is still perfectly smooth with no imperfections... try to find a repainter/restorer in your area, i would start by calling around high-end dealerships in your area and ask them if they have any freelance guys who bring their van on-site and do work for them, these are the guys you need to hunt down, theyre usually very good at what they do and they'll treat you right!
