Acceleration Breakdown...
Once I shut the car off, and start back up, it is fine. I have replace the MAF, however, it did not help.
And when the car is in park, or neutral, and I hit the gas, it revs up to about 4,000 rpms and then breaks down.
Any suggestions?
I have had a similar problem to you with regards to the car having no performance and I put it down to an electrical fault although I may be wrong. I plugged in my diagnostic machine and cleared the faults and have not had this problem for over a year. Couldnt tell you which fault it was though. I always believed the car was in "limp mode, get me home mode"! Good luck.
As for the hesitation after hard acceleration, check that your air filter housing/engine cover is fully sealing to the air mass meter. If it isn't sealing properly/engine cover is lifted slightly then it will cause hesitation especially in hot weather/hot engine.

hey mr bob, i had the same hezitation from hard acc.from standstill, the transmission lagged between 1st and 2nd gear the others were fine, then i had to go easy on the throttle and second gear kicked in but i couldn't do any hard acc from stand still, this problem was because of a bad oxygen sensor, run the diagnostic test and see if you get any errors on faulty O2 SENSORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY european c43 have 2 oxygen sensors at the front only no rear ones even if it said at mercedes parts catalogue, US version have 4 stuck
