The C36 AMG Silicone Intake Coupler Upgrade

Hey guys,

Finally got around to doing the silicone coupler intake upgrade. This one is a very simple one, it only takes about 5-10 minutes. You will only need a phillips/flathead combo screw driver and the Silicone coupler. This is perfect for all C36 AMGs b/c the stock ribbed rubber one always cracks over time plus it is not smooth for air flow, 2 birds one stone.

I purchased the 2-ply turbo coupler off ebay. I chose 2ply b/c 3ply really isn't neccessary for NA application and also the 2-ply is more flexible. In addition the 2-ply is only $10 SHIPPED! (the 3-ply are $20+ shipped for same thing). I got a 3.0" diameter, 3" long black silicone coupler to keep it as OEM as possible.

As you can see it looks VERY OEM and you can't even tell its there, my stock one was so cracked I was actually getting check engines b/c of it so I did this and now its perfect and goes very well with the rest of the engine bay. I also had my valve cover recoated in bright silver b/c the old coating was getting old and yellowish (as most M104s are). I also added new AMG emblem b/c the stock ones always crack & peel. I also replaced valve cover gaskets while I was in there. There is NO REASON why anyone shouldn't do this mod, it will save alot of headache down the road plus it looks much nicer and functions better than the stock one and you will never have to replace it again.

Heres the ebay auction, Just offer 5.50 and he will accept:

hey guys,

just an update, car still runs perfect and the silicone has had no issues. It definitely makes the engine bay look much better and seems to be much more durable than the stock crap one. It is also much better than the cheapo conventional non reinforced silicone hoses which seemed to get hard not too long after installing them. This silicone is much stronger and more durable than the conventional type.

ALSO

wat i dont get fellas is, you know how some people go ahead and change the intake hoses to a big 3" pipe our C36's have dual or even triple intake hoses around the front of the car...if you remove the covers in the front bumper that hide the towing hooks there are two big hoses, and also i believe i've seen one more by the grill behind it...wats the deal? plus those keep the engine very kool mine likes to stay almost quarter below 80..juss my peice of the pie, if anyone has any different opinions please share...

These hoses you speak of are brake ducts.
