steering wheel vibration......

steering wheel vibration......
so i had this big steering wheel vibration the would shake the entire car... it would start when the car would hit 55mph up to 65mph and than it would b fine again.... i think there was a thread about this and a couple other guys had the same issue... it kept getting worse and i couldn't take it anymore so i took it at the dealer to get it check and they told me its the tie rods and wanted $500 to fix it.... i said forget it i took matters on my own hands... i bought 2 tie rods and a steering damper from autohouze.com and all parts came up to $48 or something like that .... i add 6 fuses to make it $50 and get myself free shipping... i received the parts took my car to my cousins house since he has all the tools possible needed... it took me and my cuzin holding the light for me because it was around 730pm and pretty dark out, about 1 hr to change tie rods and steering damper and the car feels amazing.. the steering is so much stiffer and when i hit a bump i dont even fill it anymore on the steering....... and i saved myself $450 how nice is that......

When you say tie rods, you mean tie rod ends correct? I have the same issue, and since I am close to 100K, I plan on doing the tie rod ends, ball joints, and LCA bushings.
I replaced the steering damper when I bought my car with 74k, I hope I don't need to replace it again?

You will need to get the car alligned after the work you have done to eliminate any pull and tire wear. It may not even feel like the car is pulling but you still need to get it alligned. While you are getting it alligned you may want to go ahead and get the tires ballanced and rotated. This will cut down on the vibration dramatically if they are out of ballance.
